May 28th: I dropped Andreas off at the crack of dawn at the Austin airport-he had to take care of business back home but planned to meet us in Oklahoma city. That gave Mariah and I time to do some sightseeing on a slow drive to OK city.

We drove through a nice southern thunderstorm on the way north-zero visibility is nice when you’re driving alongside an 18-wheeler.

Came out of the storm to see this awesome old arcade.

and whatever this is.

Stopped in Dallas to see the book depository that is now called the Sixth Floor Museum. It’s dedicated to JFK and his assassination-the sixth floor corner window is permanently open, where allegedly Oswald shot from.

You’d get a much easier shot from the grassy knoll, right in front of the motorcade’s path…

Hugo, Oklahoma: small town with a huge graveyard in which a portion is sectioned off as a “showman’s rest”-dedicated to circus workers and performers.

Made it to Oklahoma City and drove to the house that Gabe Friedman, his brother and a friend recently bought.

We borrowed some bikes and cruised around some quaint little neighborhoods.

it was super hot…

annoying neighbor dogs.

picked up andreas the next day

Mariah made some loganberry pie.

good morning…

Gabe’s brother Micah does some hide tanning in his spare time…

we had to hit up Gabe’s girlfriend’s pool when it got too hot.

Gabe’s grandma ran a vintage store before she passed and left it to him.

Andreas introduced us to this fun game with record covers…

If you’re not familiar with Gabe Friedman, you should pick up the copy of Slap with Motorcycle Diarrheas…

We went to the roadhouse to get some dancing in. Didn’t see Swayze.

Gabe took us out on old Route 66 to see some family property.

Bill Daniel showed his film “Who is Bozo Texino” at the OKC infoshop. His book “Mostly True” is worth picking up.
Gabe set up and UnderSkatement showing at a pizza place called Sauced but I didn’t get any photos of the event. I really enjoyed their pizza and beer, though…
Thank you Gabe and Micah Friedman and all of their roommates for letting us crash on the floor and being so friendly.
